Class Policies

These young people are entering a course of study on integrating a Biblical World View into every area of their life. They will need self-discipline and maturity to accomplish the academic and spiritual goals in this course. I expect them to use that maturity and discipline in the way they conduct themselves in class and in the way they dress.

Dress Code

I will expect them to be neat, clean, and modest. Conservative casual does not mean anything that resembles sleepwear or house slippers. Slogans on clothing should be non-offensive. Those are the guidelines. Please be aware that I find many trendy fashions offensive. If I happen to disagree with the student's decision as to what is neat, clean, modest, or offensive; I will discuss it with the student and it will be corrected. There will be no hats worn in the building. There will be no visible tattoos or marking on the body. (This includes writing assignments and numbers on hands, arms, and legs.) No visible body piercing (except for girl's earrings) will be allowed. Gentlemen, remove your earrings before coming to class.

Discipline Policy

In the remote possibility that a student should engage in any behavior that I find to be distracting to the class or inappropriate in any way; I will speak to that student privately to explain the problem as I see it. If there is a recurrence of this behavior; I will call the parents and ask them to resolve the behavior problem. If there is no resolution to the behavior problems the student will no longer be welcome in class.

Homework Policy

The Students should have all of the assigned work done before coming to class. This includes all reading, writing and oral assignments. Not being prepared for class could result in a zero or "F" for that assignment. Continued lack of preparation interferes with class performance and could result in a student being dismissed from the class. Occasionally there are things that come up that prevent a student from completing an assignment on time. Please let me know ahead of time in situations like these. Students must complete all assignments before they can move to the next year.

Grading

Grades will be issued on the writing assignments, oral assignments, class participation, syllabus completion and other assigned class activities. A breakdown of the grade averages will be issued at the end of the year. A transcript will be issued at the end of the last year. During the year parents are urged to look over the papers as the students receive them back from the teacher. Any Student that receives a "C" on any written assignment may rewrite that assignment (making the necessary corrections) to bring the grade up. Any Student that receives a "D or F" on any written assignment must rewrite that assignment (making the necessary corrections). The make-up assignments must be rewritten within one week of receiving the paper from the teacher. Any time a student fails to turn in an assignment, the parents will receive an email informing them that the assignment was missed.

In Class Discussion

The thing that makes this class work is the ability to discuss the material we are studying with each other. I will moderate the discussions in class. Propriety and good manners dictate that while one person is talking the others should be listening. If comments and discussions cannot be shared with the whole class then they should be held until class is over.

Gum

Many young people have succumbed to the advertising industry and believe that they will have bad breath and not be attractive to others if they do not chew gum. Get over it. It is rude and bad manners to talk to others while chewing anything. Therefore do not even bring chewing gum into the building. You might as well know now that this is a pet peeve of mine and I do not find it amusing when someone accidentally shows up chewing gum. You will be dismissed from class.

What to bring to Class

Please review the document "What to bring to Class", it explains what the student should bring to class each week. Go over this information with your student. The student's grade will be penalized for not having the necessary materials in class.

What not to bring to Class

Cell Phones and Personal Listening Devices have become a huge distraction to class over the past few years. Cell Phones should remain off or silent during class and breaks. By the way, "Vibrate" is not silent. Students need to get permission to use their cell phones while on the property. MP3, IPod, and other listening devices need to remain put away while in the building. These devices are anti-social. While in class or on break students should interact with each other not isolate themselves. If any device or item is a distraction to the class, I will take it away from the student. If the student wants the item returned, their father will need to make arrangements with me to pick it up.

Pictures and videos

During the year, pictures and videos will be made for various reasons. World View Classes reserves the right to use these pictures, videos, and audio recordings for the purposes of the school. Class sessions may not be recorded in any format with out permission from the World View Classes.

Showing up for class indicates your approval of and agreement to abide by the above Policies.
