In addition to the wonderful curriculum David Quine has written, I have added a few books and assignments that enhance the classroom and discussion experience. These include: Writing Workshops from EIW: Both the Basic and Advanced writing workshops from Andrew Pudewa's Excellence in Writing series are used to enhance the writing assignments A class in public speaking which utilizes Jeff Myers'Secrets of Great Communicators' If the students learn how to understand a biblical world view and discern the world views in our culture, we should also teach them how to verbally articulate these ideas to the world around them. A Debate Class, using HSLDA's Argumentation and Debate Curriculum; Each student will receive instruction in Formal Debate and will participate in several formal team and individual debates. Additional readings in Church History. "Church History in Plain Language" by Bruce Shelly provides historical continuity as the curriculum moves from the early church to Augustine, Aquinas, and the Reformation. A series of lectures on History, Philosophy, and Literature. A number of books and publications will be used to provide additional insight to the materials studied in the curriculum. Class discussion. This helps the students interact with their own ideas as well as the ideas of others as they discuss their assignments in class. Current Events. The events and ideas of the ancient world have an impact on our culture today. Every phase of our study is compared to current News, Politics, Movies and Music that influences our culture on a daily basis. The Propaganda Game. A delightful game that teaches the students to recognize techniques of propaganda as they are used in real life settings. This is always the highlight of every class.
