Week 6

Week

6

The

Syllabus is very detailed. Follow the instructions

and answer the questions in your syllabus. Many times

there are no questions just outlines. In those situations

take notes under each section of the outline from

your reading. Your teacher may give addtional or alternative

assignments.

Biblical

World View

Take notes on the reading

of Genesis Chapter 3 through 7 and Schaeffer's book

"Genesis in Space and Time".

Two interesting studies

spring to life in my classes during this week. We

usually have very interesting discussions on (1) The

nature of the Flood; and (2) Who are the Son' of God?

In today's Christian

Culture there is much discussion on Young Earth/ Old

Earth and on Universal Flood and Local Flood. We deal

with Creation Debates in the Third Year of this curriculum.

So the Young Earth/ Old Earth discussions will come

later. (see links in Year

3 Weeks 6-8) This is a good place to introduce

the students to the ideas of the Universal Flood and

Local Flood and have class=GramE>them began to formulate their opinions.

The Following are

some Sites that will help accumulate information on

both positions. The question to keep in mind as we

study is ""Which position takes the most literal

treatment of Scripture?"

I have the students

do more than read Dr. Schaffer's comments on the Sons

of God and the Nephilim. I ask them to consult Parents,

Pastor and Bible commentaries, and then come up with

their own interpretation. Again the question to keep

in mind as we study is ""Which position takes

the most literal treatment of Scripture?"

A

good summary of the arguments with references for

support of each argument can be found here:

GENESIS

6 - WHO WERE "THE SONS OF GOD"?

DAYS OF NOAH and the "Sons of God"

Greco-Roman

World View: Week 6

As we are reading the

Iliad, is there any similarity to the Greek Heroes

we are reading about and Genesis 6:4?

Continue to read the

Iliad and use the questions in the syllabus as your

discussion guide.

The Book "Heroes

of the City of Man" By Peter Leithart has great

information to add to the discussions of the Iliad.

Use the questions in

the syllabus as the basis for your discussions. The

material in Heros of the City of Man is also

helpful for discussion material. Depending on the

reading skills of your students you may adjust the

rate as to how long you take to read the Iliad.
