Week 6
6 The Syllabus is very detailed. Follow the instructions and answer the questions in your syllabus. Many times there are no questions just outlines. In those situations take notes under each section of the outline from your reading. Your teacher may give addtional or alternative assignments. World View
Take notes on the reading of Genesis Chapter 3 through 7 and Schaeffer's book "Genesis in Space and Time".
Two interesting studies spring to life in my classes during this week. We usually have very interesting discussions on (1) The nature of the Flood; and (2) Who are the Son' of God?
In today's Christian Culture there is much discussion on Young Earth/ Old Earth and on Universal Flood and Local Flood. We deal with Creation Debates in the Third Year of this curriculum. So the Young Earth/ Old Earth discussions will come later. (see links in Year 3 Weeks 6-8) the students to the ideas of the Universal Flood and Local Flood and have class=GramE>them began to formulate their opinions.
The Following are some Sites that will help accumulate information on both positions. The question to keep in mind as we study is ""Which position takes the most literal treatment of Scripture?"
Problems with a Global Flood
Response to with a Global Flood
I have the students do more than read Dr. Schaffer's comments on the Sons of God and the Nephilim. I ask them to consult Parents, Pastor and Bible commentaries, and then come up with their own interpretation. Again the question to keep in mind as we study is ""Which position takes the most literal treatment of Scripture?"
A good summary of the arguments with references for support of each argument can be found here:
