2012 Early 1900's Ball
style="font-style: italic;"> style="font-weight: bold;">Early 1900's Ball For 2011 – 2012 is time for our Annual Costume Ball! The theme this year is an Early 1900's Ball. Characters should have been old enough in 1929 to attend a ball. There are a few guidelines for your character selection. They are as follows: Any historical figure from 1900 - 1929. Character must be at least 15 years old in 1929. Must have some ties to America. Each Character must be submitted for approval and will be awarded on a first come basis. Please submit at least three characters in case your first choice is already taken. Submit character request to theball@worldviewclasses.com. The characters will be awarded based on the order they appear in the mail box. style="font-style: italic;"> style="font-weight: bold;">Who is invited? guest list is limited to all students currently enrolled in World View Classes, and associate classes, alumni of the Classes. Parents are also welcome and encouraged to attend, but remember the costume! style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">The Assignment: Each student will research and recreate an historical figure from the early 1900's fulfilling the requirements given above. All students will write a 5 paragraph biography due the week of January 9, 2012. The outline of the biography is as follows: Paragraph 1 Introduce your character. Describe the person that your biography is about. Tell what this person is most famous for. Paragraph 2 Give your character's background, such as: date and place of birth childhood influences in their life Paragraph 3 Give details about the most special achievement or achievements that makes this person important in American History. If your character is not specifically from America, explain what ties them to this country. Paragraph 4 Explain the effect of their life and accomplishments on others, for example their family, hometown, our country, or even the world! Paragraph 5 Conclusion -- Give the date and place of death. Include a summary statement about your character. Include a statement about why you were drawn to this character. Some students will not be able to attend due to conflicts in their schedules. Those students are still required to research a character and write the biography. Alumni and parents attending the Ball are asked to conform to the guidelines of the characters, but will not be required to turn in a written assignment. style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Date, Time and Place: style="font-weight: bold;">Friday, February 3, 2012 from 5:30 – 11:00 P.M. at Christ Fellowship Church [formerly McKinney Fellowship Bible Church], located at 2801 Orchid Dr., McKinney, TX 75070. style="font-weight: bold;">Cost: The evening will consist of dinner, period dancing, and prizes for costumes. Dinner will be catered by Sonny Bryan's BBQ.
